af_setBackgroundImage was nilling out the filter. It no longer does and applies filters to background images of UIButtons!

Thanks for putting this together! I just pushed these changes into master with small modifications in 62b22a2 while maintaining your attribution. This will go out shortly as part of the 4.0.0 release.
