As per the conversation in #757 (comment), it's a good idea to make the DOM_INFO_UPDATE_PERIOD_SECS polling interval platform-specific as the current default of 60 sec is not optimal for all platforms.

We can still maintain a default interval of 60 seconds as per current behavior.
