Is there some notes on how to set this up? chrome extension 'connected to tab', mcp enabled in jan.ai - then what?

After you enable MCP and connect the Chrome extension, you have to tell Jan.ai where the MCP server lives. Open Jan.ai → Settings → “MCP server endpoint” and paste the URL that the extension exposes, e.g.:

http://localhost:8181/mcp

The extension runs a tiny Node server on port 8181 (or the port you set in manifest.json). If you changed the port, edit the endpoint accordingly. Then click “Save & Reload”. Jan.ai will ping the endpoint; you should see “MCP connected” in the status bar. If it stays disconnected, open the extension’s devtools console (right‑click the extension icon → Inspect popup) and look for errors such as “connection refused” or CORS. Adjust the firewall or add --allow-origin=* when starting the server if needed. Once the ping succeeds, the tab’s content is available to Jan.ai via MCP.
