Hi everyone,

Last year my application went through without issue, not really sure what I used as identification. I just submitted a renewal for this year and it was rejected without reason. Here are the details:

• My account is set up with a government K12 employee email.
• I submitted a picture of my most recent pay stub, dated with my name and employer listed. Of course I have to print it, so I folded it to fit on one screen and cover my financial information. I only blacked out my home address and monthly salary.
• My name matches my account.
• My location matches my institution.
  What more can I possibly provide? Any suggestions?

Sorry...I re-read the rejection. It states "Your document does not appear to indicate you as a faculty member". I glossed over that because I thought it was boiler plate auto generated content. The document I provided has these fields:
Employee Name
Employee Number
Employer name and Address
Time period for the document

OK...This automated system is CRAZY! I swung for the fences and re-submitted with a copy of my (tape redacted) 2025 W2 form. Again, rejected because "Your document does not appear to indicate you as a faculty member". No document says "teacher", even our badges just say school district. I provided enough employment verification for a loan, but not a GitHub education account.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried reaching out to support, but I think I'm now communicating with a Bot named "Wajeed".
I inform "him" that I've had multiple failed attempts using legal employment documentation from geo verified locations onsite. The response is repeatedly "do it again and expect a different result".

Has anyone had success when the automated system fails? If so, what did you do and/or what documentation did you submit?

Hello All,

I'm still struggling through this and I really need help. I am "working" with a support rep named Wajeed who appears to copy and paste the wrong canned responses, so it's very frustrating.

I have been told there are four acceptable types of identification:

• Faculty ID card - I submitted an image of my district badge with the district name clearly shown, my name matching my billing name in the account and my position. It was rejected because "the image you selected does not appear to contain your school name." Our badges are district provided, not site specific.
• Employment contract - We are union employees with a collectively bargained contract. We do not have individual signed contracts. We have HR employment documentation, but it's not an employment contract.
• Employment verification letter - I "could" ask for this but I already provided a W2 and a recent pay stub. I don't want to bother HR for this.
• Teaching schedule or class schedule - I'm an itinerant employee who works with students and teachers in multiple classes. I don't have a schedule.

So, I provided two of the four (if we can reasonably consider W2/Pay Stub employment verification) and the other two do not apply to me.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

Sorry you’re dealing with this, especially after being approved last year. I’d avoid sharing the pay stub publicly.

Next step: use the appeal/resubmission option in the rejection email or contact GitHub Support, mention that you were verified last year, and ask which specific document is required for renewal. If resubmitting, use an accepted employment document showing your name, employer, and current employment status.

Hopefully they can clarify the rejection and get your renewal approved.
