Tapping the recheck merge status button doesn't change anything.

I'm not even sure what this is. Per @tmilost , it's apparently this:

If the button still doesn't work after reviews are in place, it may be a bug in the GitHub Mobile beta. In that case, try using the desktop version, or report the issue to GitHub Support.

It looks like this issue is related to the “Unknown merge status” message showing up in the PR view, along with the Recheck Merge Status button not responding.

This typically happens when GitHub Actions or branch protection rules are temporarily out of sync — for example, when a workflow hasn’t reported its status correctly or a required check was renamed or deleted.

🔧 Suggested actions:

Try pushing a new commit (or rebase and force-push) to trigger a fresh merge-status check.

Verify that all required status checks still exist and match the branch protection settings.
