Codespaces deleted and respiratory gone

My codespace was deleted by github a couple hours ago and I can no longer even find the respiratory that it was in, even though I previously committed versions of the code. The respiratory was owned by me, however, created as a fork of a respiratory owned by someone else. The code was for my diploma and due in a few days. Would I be able to recover the code by purchasing github plus or is it lost forever?

open a support ticket with GitHub. They’re usually able to restore deleted Codespaces, but it might take a little time for them to handle it for you.

Unfortunately, subscribing to GitHub Pro or Plus won’t restore deleted repositories or Codespaces. If your forked repository was deleted, GitHub generally can’t recover it unless a backup still exists within a short retention window (which is rare for user-deleted content).

Here are a few steps you can try:

• Check your local machine or recent clones for any copies of the repository.
• Look in your browser cache or cloud sync folders (if you edited locally) for recent files.
• If the repository was public, try searching GitHub or the original upstream repo, your commits might still exist as references.
• You can also contact GitHub Support and explain the situation. They may be able to verify if recovery is possible based on timestamps.

Sadly, purchasing a premium plan won’t retroactively restore deleted data, but reaching out to support quickly gives you the best chance.
