Application denied?? #177103

Hello, I am writing regarding my recent application for education benefits, which was denied. The reason provided for the denial was a "missing date" on my verification documents. However, I have double-checked the documents I submitted—my verification letter and academic transcripts—and both clearly show the current academic dates. The dates are perfectly visible in the photographs I uploaded. I understand that GitHub support no longer directly handles these specific issues, so I am seeking guidance on how to resolve this. Could you please advise on what might be causing the system to overlook the date? Perhaps there is a specific format or placement required that I am missing. I would appreciate the opportunity to have my application reviewed again or be instructed on how to correct this issue. Thank you for your time and assistance.

@searnest94 !! This seems to be a common verification glitch when the system fails to read dates correctly, especially from screenshots or scanned PDFs. Try re-uploading your document as a clear PDF (not an image) and make sure the date is in a standard format (e.g., “Oct 2025” or “2025-10-16”) and placed near your name and institution. If it still fails, you can contact GitHub Education Support

Hi there 👋 It sounds like your application for the education benefits is being denied because the system can’t detect a date on your uploaded documents, even though your verification letter and transcripts clearly show one. This can sometimes happen if the platform’s verification system can’t properly read the date from your photo or PDF. Here are a few things you can try: Use a PDF scan instead of a photo – Make sure the date, your name, and your school’s name are all clearly visible. Highlight or circle the date before uploading (many reviewers appreciate that). Combine all pages into a single PDF if your verification letter and transcript are separate. Make sure the date is recent (within the last 3 months) and shows your current enrollment. If you’re applying for GitHub Education benefits, GitHub no longer provides support for these issues through the Community directly. Instead, you should submit a request here: When you fill out the form, select “GitHub Education” and attach your documents and a short note explaining that the date is visible but the system keeps rejecting them. Hope this helps — let us know if you get it sorted! 💪

Hi @searnest94, Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript and don't use a VPN. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated. If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC. If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "

Hi everyone,
Hi everyone, my application to my education benefits is being denied due to there being no date although my verification letter and my transcripts include dates on them. I attempted to request support but Github no longer helps with this issue. Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. the date is clearly shown in the photos I am taking. If any additional information is needed I will gladly provide further insight.
