Automatically open links to GitHub Pages site in a new tab #173532
-
DescriptionI noticed that after deploying a site using GitHub Pages, links pointing to the site (from README, documentation, or other repository pages) open in the same tab by default. This can be inconvenient because I lose my place in the repository and need to navigate back. I suggest that all links to a published GitHub Pages site should automatically open in a new tab ( Possible implementationsAdd an option in GitHub Pages settings to automatically open external site links in a new tab. I'm in the habit of right-clicking and "open in new tab/window" whenever I want a link to open in a new one. That seems like an easy (2 clicks) solution compared to taking away the choice (for people who may want to glance at the site before knowing if they're interested enough open it in a new window. If they are, they can back-arrow and right-click. It doesn't seem like a lot of work compared to taking away the choice.).
Just my opinion.
