Unable to complete GitHub Sponsors signup – profile step skipped

Hello GitHub Community,

My organization "asso-spectro-pointer" is eligible for GitHub Sponsors and appears in my eligible accounts list, but when I click "Get sponsored" the signup process skips the profile configuration step (bio, description, tiers, logo, banner) and goes directly to the payout method page.

Because the profile step is missing, the "Submit" button in the payout method page remains disabled, and I cannot complete the application.

This issue happens both with my organization account and my personal account.

Could someone from GitHub please reset or restart the GitHub Sponsors signup flow for my organization so I can complete the profile setup first?

Hey @spectro-pointer,
It sounds like your GitHub Sponsors onboarding flow has gotten into a broken state where it’s skipping required steps (profile setup) and blocking the payout setup from being submitted.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to “reset” the Sponsors application yourself, this requires GitHub Support to manually restart or fix the onboarding process for your account/organization.

What I recommend:

1. Go to GitHub Support – Contact.

2. Choose GitHub Sponsors as the topic.

3. Include:

   • Your organization name (asso-spectro-pointer)
   • Link to the org profile
   • Description of the skipped step
   • Screenshots of the flow (especially the missing profile step)

4. Ask them to restart the Sponsors signup flow for both your personal and org accounts.

While waiting for Support, double-check you have no adblockers or browser extensions interfering with the flow. Also, try a different browser or an incognito/private window, sometimes UI state gets cached.

This one’s on GitHub’s side to fix, so contacting Support is the fastest route.
