| Yes, that is correct for GitHub Copilot Business Plan users: Data usage: By default, GitHub does not use code snippets, completions, or chat data from Business Plan accounts for training or product improvements. This is different from Individual Plan users, where data may be used if the toggle is enabled. Dashboard toggle: The “Allow GitHub to use my data for product improvements” option is intentionally hidden for Business Plan accounts because GitHub handles business data differently to respect privacy and compliance policies. So the absence of the toggle and the default data policy you described is expected and official behavior for all Copilot Business accounts |

| -If your company has migrated from an Individual to a Business plan, it’s normal—and expected—that you no longer see the option to toggle data sharing. -Rest assured, GitHub does not use Copilot Business users’ code snippets or chat data for AI model training or product improvement by default. -If you’d like further reassurance or authoritative confirmation, reaching out to GitHub Support or reviewing the official policy documentation is a good next step. |

Hello Community Support Team,
Our company has recently switched from the GitHub Copilot Individual Plan to the Copilot Business Plan. When we were on the Individual Plan, we could see the “Allow GitHub to use my data for product improvements” toggle in the dashboard settings and freely enable or disable it.
After moving to the Business Plan, this section no longer appears. Several online sources state that:
The toggle is intentionally hidden for Business Plan users.
By default, GitHub does not use Business Plan customers’ code snippets or chat data for model training or other product-improvement purposes.
Could you please confirm whether these two points are officially correct?
Specifically, we would like to know:
Does GitHub refrain from using any Copilot Business customer data for training or analytics by default?
Is the absence of the “Allow GitHub to use my data for improvements” option in the dashboard expected behavior for all Business Plan accounts?
Thank you in advance for your clarification.
Best regards,
Yusuke Murata
