Commits not showing on calender

I am not able to see my commits for past 10 days 17 days, on the github commit calendar on the profile page. I am committing consistently (in some private repos), still the commits are not shown on the calendar. Though I can see the commits in the respective private repo's code tab.

I have already marked the option to see the commits of private repo(above the calendar), still the same issue.

If someone knows about the issue, do let me know

First, make sure that the following option is checked in your settings:

Here are some other reasons why contributions don't show up in the activity graph:

1. The email isn't properly configured in git config.
2. Commits made in a secondary branch (not main or master).
3. Commits made in a forked repo.

Possible causes and checks:

1. Email mismatch – Make sure the email in your local Git config matches a verified email on your GitHub account:

   git config user.email

   If it’s not verified on GitHub, commits won’t appear on your calendar.

2. Different account used – Confirm that the commits are under the same GitHub user (check the commit author in the repo).

3. Unlinked commits – Commits made with unverified or unlinked emails won’t count, even in private repos.

4. Private contributions visibility – Double-check your profile settings → “Profile settings → Contributions & activity → Include private contributions.” Toggle it off and back on.

5. Repo ownership – Only commits to repos you have write access to count. Forked or organization repos may behave differently depending on permission and visibility.

6. Delayed updates – Sometimes GitHub takes a few hours to update contribution graphs, especially for private commits.

✅ Fix quickly:

• Verify the email used in commits is added and verified on GitHub.

• Run:

  git log --author="yourname"

  and confirm the same email shows as in your GitHub verified list.

• If not, amend commits or configure:

  git config --global user.email "[email protected]"

After fixing, future commits will appear correctly.
