Need help connecting Github to an existing domain

Hi there :)
Im new to GitHub. I would like to connect a custom domain that I own through squarespace (blue triangle.studio) to a site thats made with GitHub. I got a bit further using chat GPT to find that I needed to tweak the DNS records on squarespace. It now does connect, but I cannot enforce HTTPS so it's not a safe address, and it still says it's improperly figured.

Ive been trying different things and searched through the help section but nothing seems to work. Anyone has some advice? Any suggestions are welcome no matter how obvious they may seem as I really do not have any experience with web related stuff like this and im very new to a lot of terms.

I suggest you to read carefully the "Troubleshooting custom domains and GitHub Pages" and "Managing a custom domain for your GitHub Pages site" sections from the docs. You might find some useful information that can help you there.

Hi, thanks for your reply!
I did read read both of those sections and tried all the steps. My status is now 'valid for primary' but still improperly configured. Do you have any suggestions? :)

Hey @bluetrianglestudio you're welcome, I'm not really an expert with custom domains on GitHub Pages, however ensure to add four A records in your DNS provider’s web console and then confirm that your DNS record is configured correctly.

I think I know what's going on!

First, try adding your custom domain bluetriangle.studio to your custom domains on your account settings, on the "Pages" tab. You will get some instructions on how to edit your DNS records to verify your domain.

Once you did that, try to add it in the repository settings again like you did before, and the verification should pass!
