I thought I remembered this working differently in the past, but the current implementation seems to be: Status:

It seems counterintuitive to me to have to go from the currently active player to the idle one, in order to synchronize them. If they are both playing something, the current implementation makes a bit of sense, but I still think it makes more sense in the other direction, so the UI is somewhat unclear. A similar menu option, transfer queue, is much more obvious, although "Transfer queue to" might be a slight improvement. In the same vein, perhaps the synchronize function could be relabeled as "Synchronize to another player" to make the direction more explicit (alteratives: "Sync this player to another queue", "Join another player"). |

I just noticed something that has been in the UI for a while, but I had not yet used. Clicking the speaker icon shows a list of other speakers to sync as a group by checking the relevant checkboxes:
This is a great solution, and even simpler than what I described above.
