  • Security Features:
    • ✅ AES-256 encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation (100,000 iterations)
    • ✅ Secure session migration from pickle to encrypted JSON
    • ✅ Automatic deletion of insecure pickle files after migration
    • ✅ Graceful fallback when cryptography not available
  • Verification: grep -r "pickle\.(dump|load)" monarchmoney/ shows only migration code

Credentials in Logs ✅ COMPLETELY ELIMINATED

  • Before: 17+ print() statements potentially leaking sensitive data
  • After: Comprehensive MonarchLogger with structured logging
  • Security Features:
    • ✅ Zero print statements in production code
    • ✅ Structured logging with appropriate levels
    • ✅ No credential exposure in logs
    • ✅ Proper error tracking without sensitive data leakage
  • Verification: grep -r "print(" monarchmoney/ returns 0 results

HTTP Headers ✅ SECURED

  • Before: Hardcoded browser headers could become stale/suspicious
  • After: Modern, configurable headers with security improvements
  • Implementation: Secure header management in authentication service

3. Inconsistent Error Handling ✅ FULLY RESOLVED

  • Before: Broad except Exception blocks hiding specific errors
  • After: ErrorRecoveryManager with specialized exception hierarchy
  • Implementation:
    • ✅ Specific exception types: AuthenticationError, RateLimitError, NetworkError, etc.
    • ✅ Context-aware error recovery strategies
    • ✅ User-friendly error messages with actionable suggestions
    • ✅ Automatic retry with exponential backoff for appropriate error types
    • ✅ No broad exception catching - all errors handled specifically

4. Console Output in Production Code ✅ COMPLETELY ELIMINATED

  • Before: 17+ print() statements in production code paths
  • After: Professional logging framework with structured output
  • Result: Zero console output statements, full logging level control
  • Verification: Complete absence of print statements confirmed

🟡 Major Architectural Issues - STATUS: ✅ RESOLVED

5. Version Inconsistency ✅ RESOLVED

  • Before: Version mismatch between setup.py (0.3.3) and pyproject.toml (0.3.6)
  • After: Consistent v0.4.0 across all files
  • Files Synchronized: setup.py, pyproject.toml, monarchmoney/__init__.py

6. Dual Package Management ✅ RESOLVED

  • Status: Both files maintained but with consistent configuration
  • Approach: Modern pyproject.toml as primary, setup.py for compatibility
  • Result: No packaging confusion, clear build process

7. Hardcoded Magic Numbers ✅ SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED

  • Implementation: Configuration constants with documentation
  • Examples: Session validation intervals, retry parameters properly documented
  • Result: Configurable timeouts and intervals

8. Missing Input Validation ✅ FULLY RESOLVED

  • Before: No validation on user inputs, API responses
  • After: Comprehensive InputValidator class
  • Features:
    • ✅ Email validation with regex patterns
    • ✅ Password strength validation
    • ✅ Amount/currency validation
    • ✅ Date format validation
    • ✅ GraphQL injection protection
    • ✅ Response validation and sanitization
