Issue or question about MOOSE

While following the HPC install guide the installation will either fail or freeze with the output being stuck at 'cloning into home/projects/moose/petsc...'.

I'm setting the environment variables to

export CC=mpicc CXX=mpicxx FC=mpif90 F90=mpif90 F77=mpif77

and loading cmake, gcc 13.3, python 3.12.8, openMPI 3.1.6.

Is there any ideas for what could be causing the hang up at this step or information I could further find out from the system administrators that would help?

Does the system have internet access?
Is the access super slow?

you can modify the script and add --verbose to git operations, notably git clones to see it progress

With --verbose it hung in the same location.

cloning petsc should take 20s and 400 MB.
Based on the previous log it was working earlier. What changed?

The only printout within the terminal is

Cloning into 'HOME/projects/moose/petsc'...

I've left it for >30min without any change. On a different HPC it installed without issue, but for project reasons it would be much preferred/necessary for it to be installed on the HPC which is giving the trouble.

I've tried different module combinations to match HPC 2 (the one which worked), but either no module on HPC 1 matches correctly or there is some unknown issue causing it.

Is there some log that should come out somewhere I could check?

yes if you add --verbose to that line in the script you should see something like this:

Does ls HOME/projects/moose/petsc work?
Can you delete that folder manually before cloning?

Can you clone petsc outside the script? How long does it take?
