Markor 2.15.2 Android game with permissions?

Hi
Big fan of markor, ... And open source apps where possible. But I have sneaky feeling Google are enemies of open source apps revoking permissions from apps that "don't ask permissions explicitly".

Markor .md notes were wonderful handheld zettelkasten system for me to jot multimedia pictures with notes/ideas etc.

Then android 16 maybe did an update, and now new notes with images for viewing in the app itself are not actuating. Markor does not ask any EXPLICIT permissions to access media etc. Though my earlier notes work fine. All that I get is a broken file not loaded icon where the image should be.

Any ideas?
