Replacing Perplexity?

Currently the MCP for Task Master will nag about "needing" Perplexity, I can't ask it to use OpenRouter for alternatives. As a note, for small tasks adding :online on OpenRouter would work as well, since some providers can handle it. Also we are not using "research" mode for Perplexity I hope?

Research mode is for whatever model you want, we like perplexity :)

Perplexity api is terrible, don't you agree? Based on my observation, the perplexity web chat is quite good but the api can't deliver the same level of accuracy, hence better to make it replaceable.

it’s already replaceable as I said. You can use any supported provider that provides research

I don't agree. You might not be using the right model or don't give it enough context to work, but its quite good.

I must clarify that I used perplexity's mcp, which is synchronous that causes timeouts with perplexity_research (that uses sonar-deep-research) hence I was obliged to use only the perplexity_ask tool (that uses sonar-pro) whose answers were inconsistent with those of perplexity web ui's.

Dont use perplexity mcp there’s your issue.
