Inquiry about contributing & GSoC 2026 participation

I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out to express my interest in contributing to this project and becoming involved with the organization. I have a background in robotics, with practical experience in ROS, embedded systems, robotic control and navigation, simulation tools, and software development workflows. I am also familiar with data structures and algorithms, Linux environments, Docker, and CI/CD practices.

I am planning for long-term open-source involvement and would like to inquire whether this organization anticipates participating in Google Summer of Code 2026. I would be glad to begin contributing early to build familiarity with the codebase and community processes.

Could you please advise on the recommended steps to get started, including documentation to review, environment setup guidelines, and any beginner-friendly issues or tasks suitable for new contributors? I would also appreciate guidance on key skills or areas to focus on to be well-prepared to contribute effectively.
