Conditionally revealed field inside radio group and checkbox group

Have you considered adding support for conditionally reveled fields, nested within the radio and checkbox components?

It has some advantages:

• Context (relation between the parent and child field) is clearer than the alternative of having the revealed field below the radio/checkbox group
• Shorter distance between options (Fitt's law)

Some things to be aware of:

• Gov.uk: "Users are not always notified when a conditionally revealed question is shown or hidden. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 Name, role, value. However, we found that screen reader users did not have difficulty answering a conditionally revealed question - as long it’s kept simple. Users we tested with did get confused when complicated questions were conditionally revealed to them, particularly questions with more than one part."
• Doesn't work well with bold field labels in my opinion (see mockup on the left) – luckily Designsystemet uses Medium, which work much better in my opinion (see mockup on the right):

These types of dynamic questions could potentially be something we describe as a pattern rather than a component. They can work very well in some situations, while in others they might create more confusion than they solve. Because of this, it is often more of an interaction pattern than a component in a design system.

We will keep the idea in mind as we evaluate potential patterns in the future. Thanks again for raising it.
