Q: how to build ruff in build env cut off from public network?

Looks like ruff build process is trying to clone libcst

Q: how to build ruff in the build env cut off from access to public network?
(I mean where needs to be unpacked tar ball with libcst tree?)

What kind of system are you trying to install Ruff in? Is there a reason you want to build from source?

Perhaps cargo vendor is what you're looking for?

I don't know the answer off-hand, but this is a standard Cargo git dependency (https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/specifying-dependencies.html#specifying-dependencies-from-git-repositories), so I'd suggest doing some research around where Cargo expects those.

What about have installed DSO with libcst and specify build dependency and use thar during linking? 🤔
