We're outgrowing the AIX libc one. Need longopts. Maybe use a C++ library for this if it makes i.e. composition of a base vs. tool specific set of command line flags easier? Also probably should be vendorable or shipped by IBM.
I think Lyra seems to be interesting, from the composable angle.
