Princess Bot Commands Guide

The Princess Bot Commands system allows players to issue real-time orders to bot-controlled forces during gameplay. Whether you need Princess to focus fire on a priority target, retreat to a specific edge, or coordinate artillery strikes, these commands give you tactical control without pausing the game.

Commands can be issued two ways:

  • GUI Panel - Click-based interface with visual menus (recommended for most players)
  • Chat Commands - Text-based commands for advanced users and scripting

This guide covers both methods.

Using the wrong separator is a common source of errors. Double-check your format based on how you're entering the command.

  • Single hex: 0815
  • Multiple hexes (chat): 0815-0816-0817
  • Multiple hexes (GUI): 0815, 0816, 0817

Tactical Examples

Example 1: Coordinated Assault (GUI)

Scenario: You have two bot lances. You want Lance A to charge while Lance B provides covering fire.

Method:

  1. Click Maneuver → Alpha Strike → Lance_A_Bot
  2. Click Maneuver → Stay At Range → Lance_B_Bot

Result: Lance A charges aggressively while Lance B hangs back and engages at distance.

Example 2: Smoke Screen Cover (Chat)

Scenario: Your units need to cross open ground under enemy observation.

Method:

Princess: ar : VOLLEY SMOKE 0815-0816-0817-0818

Result: Simultaneous smoke deployment creates instant concealment corridor.

Example 3: Area Denial (Chat)

Scenario: Enemy units are trying to flee toward board edge.

Method:

Princess: ar : BARRAGE MINE 1201-1202-1203-1301-1302-1303

Result: Sustained bombardment blocks retreat path; mines create lasting hazard.

Example 4: Night Illumination (Chat)

Scenario: Night battle - you need to reveal enemy positions.

Method:

Princess: ar : BARRAGE FLARE 0920-0921-1020-1021

Result: Continuous illumination reveals hidden units, improves targeting.

Example 5: Emergency Stop (Chat)

Scenario: Friendly unit unexpectedly enters ongoing barrage zone.

Method:

Princess: ar : HALT

Result: All artillery immediately ceases fire.

Example 6: Focus Fire (GUI)

Scenario: Enemy assault 'Mech is tearing through your lines. You need all bots to focus it down.

Method:

  1. Click Priority Target → [ID:5 Atlas AS7-D] → Bot_Alpha
  2. Click Priority Target → [ID:5 Atlas AS7-D] → Bot_Bravo
  3. Click Maneuver → Alpha Strike → Bot_Alpha
  4. Click Maneuver → Alpha Strike → Bot_Bravo

Result: Both bots prioritize the Atlas and engage aggressively.

Troubleshooting

Q: Buttons are grayed out

  • Ensure you're not in lobby/setup phase - commands only work during active gameplay
  • Verify you have allied bots or are designated as Game Master

Q: My priority target command seems to be ignored

  • Princess may override priority if the target is unreachable or other threats are more immediate
  • Priority is a preference, not an absolute order - Princess still uses tactical judgment

Q: No artillery units fire after command

  • Check if the bot actually has off-board artillery units assigned
  • Verify artillery units haven't been destroyed
  • Confirm the bot is under your command (allied bot or GM control)

Q: Chat command doesn't work

  • Verify exact syntax: BotName: command : arguments
  • Check bot name spelling - bot names are case-sensitive
  • Commands (both abbreviations and full names) are case-insensitive
  • Artillery ORDER and AMMO codes are conventionally uppercase but will work either way
  • Target hexes must be dash-separated in chat (0815-0816, not 0815, 0816)

Q: I gave conflicting commands (Priority + Ignore on same unit)

  • The most recent command takes precedence
  • To fix, use Clear Ignored (cl) or issue a new priority command

Q: Do commands persist after save/load?

  • Bot behavior settings are saved with the game
  • Manual targeting commands (priority/ignore) persist through save/load

Tips and Best Practices

General Tips:

  • Commands take effect immediately - no confirmation needed
  • Multiple commands can be combined (e.g., set Tight Formation + retreat North)
  • Each command requires selecting which bot receives the order
  • Use Princess: sh to view current bot settings if you're unsure what's active

Artillery Tips:

  • Always issue Cease Fire (HALT) before repositioning friendly units near barrage zones
  • Use Free Fire (AUTO) after manual artillery missions to restore AI control
  • Smoke and flare barrages are more useful than many players realize

Multi-Bot Tips:

  • Give different bots different roles using Maneuvers (one aggressive, one defensive)
  • Use Priority Target on multiple bots to focus fire on dangerous enemies
  • Consider using Disperse if enemy artillery is hitting your clustered forces

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • When in doubt, use Princess: li to list all available commands
  • If Princess isn't behaving as expected, use Princess: sh to check current settings
  • The bot will acknowledge commands in chat - watch for confirmation messages
