So, it is a general type question, of your expentations for supporting some/all of MetricsQL's claimed gains or how Greptimedb would compre against VM's MetricsQL ?

Hi,

GreptimeDB is currently focused on full PromQL compatibility. Although official tests show 100% compliance, some edge cases may still exist.
GreptimeDB supports SQL and PromQL for queries—SQL is particularly suited for complex and correlation analyses.

Currently, MetricsQL from VictoriaMetrics is not our primary focus.

I think it depends more on your existing system and use case.
If you’re already using VM or Prometheus and have existing dashboards and alert rules, you’ll probably prefer to keep using PromQL.

If it’s a brand-new system, I personally lean toward SQL, since it’s more flexible and powerful.
At the same time, we also provide range queries for fast windowed aggregation queries — see the documentation.

Currently, GreptimeDB supports both query languages equally. We treat both as primary query languages — they’re translated into DataFusion query plans and executed.
