Was I wrong to expect that GitVersion follows semantic versioning itself? I just upgraded from 6.0.5 to 6.5.0 and discovered that there is a breaking change in 6.2.0 related to label-number-pattern. It is still mentioned in the docs, but causes the calculation to fail as it no longer understands that setting.

Yes it is unfortunate indeed but from my side it is not a show stopper, we have already started migrating most of our configurations just a few more before we can upgrade the CI.

Lets learn from this and move on, no value in going back.

I agree. I don't know the codebase and I already have too many open-source projects at hand. I prefer the new way anyhow. I was just concerned for all the other peeps using GitVersion. For those that use my solution template, I've already shipped a version that uses the new 6.5 version correctly.

Thanks for understanding, it is, especially when from one release to another we could "forget" what happened and have a release not following semver (happened in the past).
