Introduce wind turbines

Issue

Solar photovoltaics are widely deployed and modelled. However, they are not the only renewable technology available, both for installations and across renewable energy-system models. Wind power is a well-established renewable which is currently missing from CLOVER.

Proposal

Implement wind power modelling across CLOVER as a new source of renewable electricity.
This will require modifications to

• the fetching of data from renewables.ninja,
• the handling of renewably-produced electricity.

General thoughts

This might be too much to attempt as part of the IAA grant, but, at the same time, might not be much effort at all if we're simply taking the wind-turbine output data from renewables.ninja. (They have an API for this, so it shouldn't be too difficult to plug into.) On the other hand, leaving it may mean that it's something that we could possibly offer to SEF students next year? Would be keen to hear your thoughts @hamishbeath .
