Error when installing from github repository

I couldn't install FeenoX properly. As I am concerned, a bug can occur when solving 1D heat conduction problems if the program is installed with apt. Instead, I prefer to install it from the GitHub repository. I tried:

git clone https://github.com/seamplex/feenox.git
cd feenox
./autogen.sh
./configure
sudo make install

but this results on errors related to feenox_problem_dirichlet_add. The full output of the last command can be seen in the file attached.

Hi. Thanks for opening a thread.

First of all, I'm not sure what you mean with "a bug can occur when solving 1D heat conduction problems if the program is installed with apt." The package feenox which is available in apt is version 1.0.156 which is fairly recent. Note that you'll need Debian sid in order to install FeenoX from apt.

Second, doing sudo make install before doing make install will compile the source as root, which is not a good idea.

Now, regarding the error, I'm not sure why you get that.
What do you get when you do

git log -1

and

git status

in the feenox directory?

Also, do not ignore errors. So if you try to clone and git says you already clone, acknowledge that and pull instead of cloning.

I gave it a second try by following the steps outlined here. I executed:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git build-essential make automake autoconf libgsl-dev

sudo apt-get install libsundials-dev petsc-dev slepc-dev

cd feenox
./autogen.sh
./configure
make -j4

./configure --enable-download-gsl

sudo make install

git pull
./autogen.sh; ./configure; make -j4
sudo make install

It worked as expected.

Good. As explained in the link you posted, the commands git pull after sudo make install are needed when you want to update an existing repository. They are not needed when cloning for the first time.
